Project Description

SPARTAN THEME OF THE WEEK
DISCIPLINE

Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, whether you like it or not.
― Thomas Henry Huxley

dis•ci•pline: noun, verb, dis•ci•plined, dis•ci•plin•ing
1. training to act in accordance with rules; drill: military discipline.
2. activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill; training: A daily stint at the
typewriter is excellent discipline for a writer.
3. punishment inflicted by way of correction and training.
4. the rigor or training effect of experience, adversity, etc.: the harsh discipline of poverty.
5. behavior in accord with rules of conduct; behavior and order maintained by training and
control: good discipline in an army.

Discipline is perhaps the hardest trait to have. We do not want to get up early and go to school or work. We don’t want to clean our room when we can be playing. Learning the art of discipline allows us to make those decisions and force ourselves to do the things we do not want to do. Discipline can also have the meaning of do something over and over again trying to achieve perfection – being disciplined to do your best.

Football just like life demands discipline; to do your job and not what you want to do, to hold your block or pass your homework in on time. Discipline is the cornerstone in which all other traits arise.
