We consider ourselves the premier youth football and cheerleading program on Cape Cod. We are the only no limits Division 1 American Youth Football program in the area. We are a USA Heads Up Football program and Positive Coaching Alliance partners.
2016 is shaping up to be one of the most active years for training opportunities thus far. The Board of Trustees for the Upper Cape Spartans have been hard at work planning a great season and some great training opportunities for both cheerleaders and football players. Additionally, the Blackstone Valley Conference has been selected by National AYF to host AYF & AYC XPerience camps!
With the Upper Cape Spartans offering free registration again this season, it should grant players an opportunity to participate in some of these training opportunities to become well rounded athletes and students.
Tumbling Classes! $40
Spartan cheer kicked off the year with tumbling classes at Tumble-Time Gymnastics & Dance. Classes were broken down into two age groups, 5-9 and 10-15. The younger girls have been receiving 1 hour of instruction and the older girls have been receiving 2 hours of instruction every Wednesday night. This training opportunity is currently in session and will conclude on April 27th. We were able to work out special pricing which granted the younger girls a total of 8 hours of instruction at $5 per hour / $40 total. The older cheerleaders were granted classes that are 2 hours in duration / 16 hours of instruction at $2.50 per hour / $40 total. If you missed this event, don’t fret, another class picks up in May. This is a great opportunity for first-time cheerleaders to get some experience before the season starts!
Coach Dave Potter Clinic $75
Coach Dave Potter has coached youth and high school football for nearly two decades. He has clinched multiple CFF Championships in North Carolina and has accrued a record of 93 wins and 3 losses with the teams he has coached over a 10 year stretch. Potter is well-known in youth football circles as an innovator who gets the kids he coaches to perform at the highest level possible on the field, and in the classroom.
People who may have never heard of Coach Potter have been exposed to some of his ideas through the C.A.L. program, which he developed while coaching a Pop Warner team. Potter specializes in developing mental toughness and aggression in players with his unorthodox drills such as “whose ball” and “fight club”.
Due to the strong turn out for the first offering of tumbling classes at Tumble-Time Gymnastics & Dance, we have a second offering beginning on May 2nd. Classes are broken down into two age groups, 5-9 and 10-15. The 5-9 group will meet Wednesdays beginning May 4th between 5:30PM-6:30PM while the older girls will have classes on both Mondays and Wednesdays (beginning May 2nd) between 5:30PM-7:30 PM.
This is an amazing offering, especially for the older cheerleaders who have been making appearances at regional championships for the past 2 years. That’s 4 hours of extra training per week for approximately 8 weeks (32 hours of training, $1.25 per hour). Sign up now as class sizes are limited.
Lawrence Vickers & Johnny Jolly $100-150
Learning doesn’t happen inside of a vacuum! Last season our staff and coaches worked with former-players/coaches from Mashpee, Falmouth and Somerset. We enlisted help from a Woburn Pop Warner coach and we even had former Washington Redskin Running Back Clinton Portis and former Indiana Hoosier & Baltimore Ravens Defensive Back Dre Kates out to our practice field.
We held a private clinic with Lawrence Vickers earlier this year and it was an amazing experience, for not only the players in attendance, but the coaches and administrators. Vickers played college ball in Colorado and his professional career took him from Cleveland to Houston and Dallas. Having been one of the few coaches in attendance for the private clinic, I’ve got to say that Mr. Vickers is a very motivational person. He has many stories to share on his approach to football and life. Everyone was granted the opportunity to work one-on-one with Lawrence as well as ask any questions they had. Lawrence is bringing fellow NFL-alumni Johnny Jolly who played defensive tackle and end for the Greenbay Packers. 2 day camp, May 14th & May 15th. Promotional pricing available for both days and multiple children
